This settlement resolves a class action about the cancellation of the South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference and Festivals in 2020 by the City of Austin, due to Covid-19. Eligibility:

You may be eligible if you are a person who bought credentials for the 2020 South by Southwest Conference and Festivals in Austin, Texas. The classes include both the Deferral and Non-Deferral Classes:

- The Deferral Class are those who accepted SXSW’s offer to defer their credentials to another year.
- The Non-Deferral Class did not accept that offer.

You are not eligible if you received a refund through your credit card company, or if you are a business or government agency who got credentials from SXSW’s Sales, Special Projects, or Sponsorship departments when they bought exhibition, marketing, trade, or sponsorship packages.

Typical Settlement Amount:

Deferral Class: $30 per credential plus the right to change the deferral year to 2022, 2023, or 2024, provided they give notice by January 15 of their current deferral year. Also, the right to buy one additional credential per credential purchased for 2020, of the same type as the 2020 credential, at 50% off the walk-up rate for the 2022, 2023, or 2024 years for a year other than their deferral year.

Non-Deferral Class: Choice of (1) refund of 40% of what they paid for credentials or (2) a change to the Deferral Class.

Tickets for the BBQ Crash Course and Taco Meet Up will be refunded in full.
