Case Summary:

This settlement resolves the financial institutions track of a class action against Sonic, LLC (formerly Sonic Corporation), Sonic Industries Services, Inc., Sonic Capital, LLC, Sonic Franchising, LLC, Sonic Industries, LLC, and Sonic Restaurants, Inc. The financial institutions pursuing this part of the litigation allege that that Sonic is responsible for an intrusion into its point-of-sales systems that is believed to have taken place between April 7, 2017 and October 28, 2017, which allowed hackers to steal the payment card information of the customers who used the point-of-sale machines.

Eligibility:

You may be eligible if you are a bank, credit union, or financial institution in the US that received notice and took action to reissue credit card or debit cards or reimbursed a compromised account from any card brand in the Sonic Data Breach.

Typical Settlement Amount:

Benefits: $1 for each Eligible Alerted-On Payment Card reissued or $1.50 for each Eligible Alerted-On Payment Card that experienced fraud in the four-week period after its first appearance on a Card Brand Alert. (Institutions must choose either a reissuance payment or a fraud payment and cannot choose both.) Sonic will pay up to a total of $3 million on a claims-made basis.
