Case Summary:

This settlement is part of a very large case alleging that auto parts manufacturers engaged in collusion and price fixing for various components and parts used in making vehicles. This particular settlement resolves class actions against various Denso and NGK companies (including Denso Corporation and NGK Spark Plug Co., Ltd.) alleging that they engaged in collusion and price-fixing, causing direct purchasers to pay more for oxygen sensors than they otherwise would have.

Generally speaking, oxygen sensors are located before and after the catalytic converter in the exhaust system of a vehicle to measure the amount of oxygen in the exhaust, so that the ratio of air to fuel injected can be adjusted.
