Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, LLC is settling a class action alleging it is responsible for two separate data security incidents that it claims compromised the personally identifying information (PII) of some 15 million customers, in 2016 and 2019. Among other things, the complaint alleges that the company improperly disposed of IT equipment containing customer PII that were subsequently sold to other parties.
