This settlement resolves a class action against Mariner Finance, LLC. The complaint alleged that Mariner charged customers refinancing charges but did not include those with the simply interest rate in the promissory notes, possibly because the interest rates might then higher than allowed by Maryland laws. It also claimed that Mariner retained a portion of insurance charges, in violation of Maryland laws.

Typical Settlement Amount:

Final amounts will depend on the number of valid claims received. Class members can receive up to three times the amount of the refinance and insurance charges in the transaction; or, if there is not enough money in the Common Fund to pay this amount, each class member will get a proportionate payment from the fund.
