Case Summary:This settlement resolves a class action alleging Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics Corporation, Honeywell International, Inc., and the 3M Company contaminated the aquifer around Hoosick Falls, the Village of Hoosick Falls, and the Town of Hoosick, in New York, with perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA).
The complaint alleged that people in these areas ingested the PFOA via the wells and water supplies in the area and now have higher than average concentrations of PFOA in their blood and reduced property values. It also claimed that 3M sold PFOA or products that contained PFOA to Saint-Gobain and Honeywell and did not warn them of the dangers of PFOA.
