Case Summary:This settlement resolves a class action against Classica Cruise Operator, Ltd. and Paradise Cruise Line Operator, Ltd., Inc., claiming that they did not keep their agreements with their crews when Covid-19 stopped cruise ships from sailing. Eligibility:You may be eligible if you were a seafarer-employee who was physically present on the Grand Celebration for at least one day between March 18, 2020 and August 20, 2020, and (1) you were terminated, so that severance was due under your employment contract, and/or (2) you were employed and performed a designated job at the cruise lines’ request.
“Seafarer-employees" do not include deck and engine employees and independent contractors or the cruise lines’ corporate officers or directors.
Typical Settlement Amount:Two types of benefits are available. Type 1: Payment for two months of crew member wages at the rate of pay in your contract of employment in effect as of March 18, 2020. Type 2: Minimum payment of $1,000 for any and all work performed on the vessel during the claims period.
