Case Summary:Global Tel*Link (GTL) is paying $67 million to settle a class action alleging that it improperly took funds from prepayments in AdvancePay accounts that had been inactive for 180 days or less. At the time, GTL had a policy allowing it to do this, but the complaint alleged that it violated GTL’s contracts with its AdvancePay customers and unfairly enriched GTL.

Proof of Purchase:You must provide the telephone number or numbers you used to receive calls through your GTL AdvancePay account between 2011 and 2021. Only accounts that were set up and initially funded using the automated IVR telephone system are included.
Eligibility:You may be eligible if you are a person in the US who (1) established and paid into a prepaid account through GTL’s Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system and (2) had a positive account balance that was reduced to $0 because the account had been inactive for 180 days or less, between April 3, 2011 and October 6, 2021.
Typical Settlement Amount:(1) Active AdvancePay Customers: GTL will automatically credit 100% of the amount it took from your account under the Inactivity Policy. You do not need to submit a claim form.
(2) Former AdvancePay Customers: You must file a valid claim form to receive 100% of the money GTL took from your account under the Inactivity Policy. If the amount in the net settlement fund is insufficient to cover these refunds, amounts will be reduced pro rata.
(3) Former AdvancePay customers who reactivate their accounts during the two years after the settlement is approved: GTL will credit your account 100% of the amount it took from your account under the Inactivity Policy. If the amount in the net settlement fund is insufficient to cover these refunds within this two-year period, GTL will stop providing refunds.
