Case Summary:

This settlement is meant to settle economic loss claims relating to 2014 recalls and the Chapter 11 case for the former General Motors with a $121.1 settlement fund. The claims are brought on behalf of current and former owners and lessees of vehicles with problems with ignition switches, key rotation, side airbag wiring, or electronic power steering systems that were the subject of recalls. The defendants include New GM, the Motors Liquidation Company GUC Trust, and the Motors Liquidation Company Avoidance Action Trust.

This settlement does not resolve claims for personal injury, physical injury, or wrongful death.

You may be eligible if, at any time as of or before the recall announcement date of the recalls for your vehicle, owned, bought, or leased one of the vehicles at issue in any of the states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, US Virgin Islands, or any other US territory or possession. Five subclasses have been defined for this action:

- Subclass 1: The Delta Ignition Switch Subclass
- Subclass 2: The Key Rotation Subclass
- Subclass 3: The Camaro Knee-Key Subclass
- Subclass 4: The Electronic Power Steering Subclass
- Subclass 5: The Side Airbag Subclass

You must either (1) currently own or lease the vehicle and have had the recall repair done or will have it done now, before the final recall repair date, or (2) have formerly owned or leased the vehicle. You can look up your vehicle’s VIN on the settlement website to see if it is included in the settlement.

Typical Settlement Amount:

This settlement covers a large number of vehicles and a variety of problems. More weight will be give to ignition switch and key rotation problems. In dividing the Net Common Fund, claims for ignition switch problems will be given twice the weight, and claims for key rotation problems will be given one and a half times the weight, as claims for the other three problems.
