Case Summary:

This is a different kind of settlement, involving a Fire Victim Trust to “evaluate, administer, process, and resolve eligible claims arising from the 2015 Butte Fire, 2017 North Bay Fires, and 2018 Camp Fire.” The Fire Victim Trust apparently has been assigned to handle claims against PG&E Corporation and/or Pacific Gas and Electric Corporation, alleging that they bear responsibility for the fires. The companies appear to be in Chapter 11 at this time.

The Trust will review claims to compensate fire victims for economic and noneconomic damage. The issues will include destruction or damage to real estate and personal property, additional living expenses, lost wages, business losses, personal injury and death, related medical expenses, and emotional distress.

Among the documents at the website (instead of the usual Settlement Agreement and Notice) are an Order Approving the Debtors’ Plan of Reorganization, a Fire Victim Trust Agreement, and the Fire Victim Claims Resolution Procedures.
