CentralSquare Technologies, LLC may pay as much as $1.9 million dollars to settle a class action about its Click2Gov payment portal. The complaint alleged that the portal may have compromised the payment card information of customers between 2017 and 2019 and that the defendants bear responsibility for this data breach. Also named as a defendant in this case is the City of Norman, Oklahoma, but this settlement resolves only claims against CentralSquare.

The Settlement Administrator will determine whether the information you submit relates to a payment card used at the portal during the class period and the amount of payment if the settlement is approved.

Eligibility:

You may be eligible if you are a US resident whose credit or debit card was used to make payments for utility bills or other items through CentralSquare’s Click2Gov payment portal between January 1, 2017 and December 31, 2019.

Typical Settlement Amount:

Benefits: Changes in business practices and three tiers of payments.
- Tier 1: Class members who used one or more payment cards through the Click2Gov portal during the class period may purchase up to four years of credit monitoring at a discounted rate.
- Tier 2: Tier 1 class members who used one or more payment cards through the portal and who provide reasonable documentation of unreimbursed out-of-pocket expenses or losses from a fraudulent transaction on the payment card(s) are entitled to full reimbursement of their out-of-expenses or losses.
- Tier 3: Tier 2 class members who spent time addressing fraudulent transactions or monitoring their account(s) are entitled to a cash payment for up to three hours of time, at $20 per hour.
