Case Summary:Barnstormers Basketball, Inc. and the Amateur Athletic Union of the United States, Inc. are settling a class action with a payment of $1.9 million. The complaint alleged that Barnstormers co-director and coach Gregory Scott Stephen victimized participants who were minors by procuring nude images and recordings of them. Proof of Purchase:You must provide (1) documentation showing that you were affiliated with a Barnstormer Basketball-affiliated team between 2005 and April 5, 2018 (for example, with a time-stamped photo, email, or the like), and (2) documentation from a law enforcement agency (such as the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, or the United States Attorney’s Office) that names you as a victim of Greg Stephen.
Eligibility:You may be eligible if you are a past or present Barnstormers Basketball participant who (1) was affiliated with a Barnstormers Basketball team, at any time between 2005 and April 5, 2018 while Greg Stephan was involved with the organization, and (2) you were a victim of Stephen’s illicit actions in obtaining nude images or recordings of minors.
Typical Settlement Amount:Equal share of a $1,032,500 distribution fund for victims of Greg Stephen’s illicit acts. If all ninety-eight potential settlement class members submit valid claims, each person will receive $10,535.71, but final amounts may be higher or lower, depending on the number of valid claims received. Eligibility will be determined by a review of Claim Forms and supporting documents.
