Proof of Purchase:If you are in Group 1, you do not have to provide proof, but you may submit a Claim Form to update your contact information. If your notice did not assign you to a group, but you had either a topcase or keyboard repair, you must submit proof of this. If you did not receive a notice but you had either a topcase or a keyboard repair, you must provide a proof of purchase (such as your Mac serial number) and proof of the repair.
Eligibility:You may be eligible if you are an individual or entity who bought, other than for resale, an Apple MacBook, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro laptops sold 2015-2019 that was equipped with a defective butterfly keyboard that caused characters to repeat unexpectedly, characters to not appear, or keys to feel “sticky” or not respond consistently.
If you received a notice, it should tell you whether Apple’s records show that you are in Group 1, Group 2, or Group 3. The computers at issue include the following:

Benefits:
- Group 1: For those who had two or more topcase replacements within four years of buying the computer and before November 28, 2024. Initial payment expected to be $300, although the final amount could be more or less, depending on the number of valid claims received; maximum $395.
- Group 2: For those who had one topcase replacement within four years of buying the computer, and the replacement did not resolve the issue. Maximum payment $125, but final amount may be less.
- Group 3: For those who had one or more keycap replacements within four years of buying the computer, and the replacements did not resolve the issue. Maximum payment is $50, but final amount may be less.
- Apple Keyboard Service Program: Protection for those who bought one or more of the computers at issue and who experience future issues within four years of the purchase.
