Eligibility:You may be eligible if you:
- Traveled on American Airlines;
- Were charged to check a bag on or after February 24, 2017 for tickets issued before April 9, 2020; and
- You (a) received a confirmation email that said passengers could check one or more bags for that trip at no charge or for “USD0.00” and/or (b) you held an American Citi or Barclay’s credit card entitling the passenger to check a first bag for free and were traveling within the US, including passengers with international itineraries who were charged to check a first bag, of standard weight and size, for the domestic portion of the itinerary in addition to the international portions.
A 100% refund of all charged baggage fees, between $25 and $200 per bag. If the total baggage fees for all valid claims is less than $7,500,000, then amounts will be increased on a pro rata basis. If you were charged to check your bags on multiple occasions during the timeframe, you may receive a refund for each of those times.
In some cases, those submitting claims may not be eligible for refunds, for example, if they do not meet the criteria, or if American has already refunded the baggage fees.
