Millenia Collections Debt Collection Class Action

This class action alleges that Millenia Collections falsely represented the amount of debt it was owed by the plaintiff.

The complaint alleges that the plaintiff owed a debt to Pulmonary and Allergy Associates that was later taken over by Millenia Collections, a debt collection agency. In a letter sent by Millenia on or about June 16, 2015, Millenia asked for payment of the amount owed and said that “interest and/or fees may continue to accrue on this past due account.” This confused the plaintiff as to the current final amount owed and led her to believe that she would benefit from immediately paying the debt. However, Millenia was not permitted to add fees or interest. The complaint therefore alleges that Millenia used a false representation, deceptive means, or a false threat to try to collect the debt.

The class for this class action consists of all New Jersey consumers who were sent collection letters or notices from Millenia attempting to collect debts owed to Pulmonary and Allergy Associates, which stated that “interest and/or fees may continue to accrue on this past due account.” The Class period begins one year to the filing of this Action.
